Fall River is 9-1 against Rio since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Pirates will look to defend their home field against the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. Fall River is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Fall River lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Poynette, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Pumas on Monday. While the Pirates didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Connor Veith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Fall River is undefeated when Veith allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Veith was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Stai, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
Fall River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Poynette only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Rio was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 23rd straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 10-3 to Green Lake/Princeton.
Rio saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Shawback, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Miles Hall also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Fall River's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Rio, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Rio's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fall River hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. It's a different story for Rio, though, as they've only averaged .189. Will they be able to contain Fall River's hitters?
Everything went Fall River's way against Rio in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Fall River made off with a 14-4 win. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
