The Lorena Leopards will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Troy Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Lorena is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
Even though Franklin scored an imposing 49 points on Friday, Lorena still came out on top. Lorena came out on top in a nail-biter against Franklin and snuck past 52-49.
Braylon Henry continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 255 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Henry hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Kaden Roberts, who threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Troy was beaten by Franklin 63-23 two weeks ago. It was the first time this season that Troy let down their fans at home.
Troy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cory Padalecki, who rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns, and Cannon Negron who rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Lorena's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.2 points per game. As for Troy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Lorena against Troy when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 49-21 win. Does Lorena have another victory up their sleeve, or will Troy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
