After flying high against the Rosemead Panthers last Friday, the Marshall Eagles came back down to earth. Marshall took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of South El Monte on Wednesday. Marshall has not had much luck with South El Monte recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South El Monte to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tony Aguilar, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Aguilar's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Eli Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 23 points.
Marshall has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for South El Monte, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshall will challenge Arroyo at 6:31 p.m. on Friday. Arroyo is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. South El Monte will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Rosemead at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th.
