Summer Creek has gone 9-1 against North Shore recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. Summer Creek is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.
Summer Creek is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Texas' top teams: Kingwood, who was ranked fifth at the time (Summer Creek was ranked 11th). The Bulldogs walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Mustangs on Tuesday.
Cali Chapman was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Elaina Bonuelos, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, North Shore came up short against King on Tuesday and fell 6-1. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Alexa San Miguel was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, North Shore saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jada Duncan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Duncan has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.
Summer Creek pushed their record up to 24-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for North Shore, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Summer Creek hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like North Shore struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Summer Creek skirted past North Shore 3-2 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
