Normandy and North Olmsted are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2021, but not for long. The Invaders are taking a road trip to face off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Normandy is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
On Thursday, Normandy came up short against Rocky River and fell 3-1.
Normandy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-17, 25-13, 25-22.
Meanwhile, North Olmsted made easy work of Valley Forge on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won eight in a row.
While North Olmsted might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Valley Forge scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-22, 25-18.
North Olmsted's win came from a few key players Normandy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nela Bosch, who had ten digs and four aces. Those four aces gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Johnson, who had ten digs and three aces.
North Olmsted was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 24 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Normandy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for North Olmsted, their record is now 15-4.
Normandy was able to grind out a solid win over North Olmsted in their previous meeting on September 4th, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Invaders since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
