Branham is on a 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Greenfield is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Branham Bruins will take on the Greenfield Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Branham made off with a 21-20 victory over Pioneer.
It was another big night for Elias Antillon, who rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Antillon is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, Greenfield put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 38-0 win over Gonzales on the road. 38 seems to be a good number for Greenfield as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Greenfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allen Rodriguez, who rushed for 40 yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Gonzales to a paltry 146 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Greenfield's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Bryan Ortega and his four sacks.
Branham's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Greenfield, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
