The Fort White Indians will be playing at home against the Union County Fightin' Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Fort White entered their tilt with Santa Fe with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Fort White blew past Santa Fe 77-13 at home. Given Fort White's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 156th, while Santa Fe is ranked 475th), the result two weeks ago wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fort White's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dakota Fisher led the charge by rushing for 89 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Fisher was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Jackson, who threw for 120 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, with a playoff game on the line, Union County rose to the challenge on Friday. They breezed by Hilliard at home to the tune of 58-8. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-0.
Drew Simmons and Trenton Klein were among the main playmakers for Union County as the former rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries and the latter threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Ras Woodall was another key contributor, picking up 87 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Fort White pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 48 points. As for Union County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
