After a string of three wins, the James River HomeSchool Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. The New Year welcomed they with a 51-21 whooping from New Covenant.
New Covenant was led to victory by Ellie Jacobs and Brielle Walker. Jacobs dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 steals, while Walker dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Walker's tenth in a row with at least ten points.
James River HomeSchool's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for New Covenant, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
James River HomeSchool will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cristo Rey at 6:30 p.m. on January 29th. As for New Covenant, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Virginia Episcopal School at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Virginia Episcopal School is ranked 117th, while New Covenant is ranked 95th).
