The Pana Panthers's 11-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They breezed by Sangamon Valley/Tri-City on the road to the tune of 57-20. Pana's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Pana found their leader in underclassman Joey Laker, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Jess Vaughn, who scored 11 points along with five assists and four steals.
Pana's win bumped their record up to 3-16. As for Sangamon Valley/Tri-City, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-12.
Pana will be playing in front of their home fans against Southwestern at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Sangamon Valley/Tri-City's road trip will continue as they head out to face Central A & M at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Central A & M presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sangamon Valley/Tri-City in Illinois (Central A & M is ranked 94th, while Sangamon Valley/Tri-City is ranked 672nd).
