If the North Cross Raiders were feeling good off their 74-53 takedown of the Christchurch School Seahorses on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. North Cross took a hard 67-50 fall against Eastern Mennonite on Tuesday. North Cross lost against Eastern Mennonite in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 71-60 score last time.
Antonio Mack and Jesiah Hines certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Mack scored 22 points, while Hines scored 16 points along with three steals. Mack scored a full 44% of North Cross' points, the 12th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaziel Hart, who scored four points along with five rebounds and three steals.
North Cross' loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Eastern Mennonite, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
North Cross will head out on the road to face off against Virginia Episcopal School at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Virginia Episcopal School will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Eastern Mennonite will take on New Covenant at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. New Covenant will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
