Cate dropped their record down to 10-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Thacher Toads by a score of 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rams have suffered since March 22nd.
Quinn Pullen put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Pullen was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
In other batting news, Peter Lehman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Noah Casbarro, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
As for Thacher, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games.
On Thacher's side, they got a great performance from Amos Lageschulte as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. Lageschulte has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Henry Molfino, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Mason, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.
Looking ahead, Cate will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Faith Baptist at 4:00 p.m. As for Thacher, they will face off against Carpinteria at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
