Mount Airy had won three straight on the road, but  on Friday they bumped up to 8-2 to make it four. They claimed a resounding  54-13 win over the East Surry Cardinals. The  contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached  28-7.
 Taeshon Martin was  his usual excellent self, rushing for 207 yards and four  TDs on only 14 carries. Mount Airy is undefeated when  Martin posts 80 or  more  rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.
 They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mount Airy was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 255  rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Surry only  rushed for 72.
As for East Surry, their defeat  ended  a  three-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 4-6. Having soared to a lofty 41  points in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
 Despite the  loss, East Surry had strong showings from  JB Davis, who threw for 193 yards and a pair of  touchdowns, and  Nathan Kiger, who gained 118 total yards and a touchdown.
 Mount Airy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Surry, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Polk County  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Wolverines will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more  points each  matchup than the last.
