Makenzie Henthorn made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Megan Fugleberg was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Paisley Fraidenburg, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one triple.
Mark Morris always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as R.A. Long only posted an OBP of .118.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Columbia River). Everything went their way against Washougal on Friday as they made off with a 32-1 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Haylee Delano and Cassity Houk made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Delano pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Houk pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Delano went 3-for-6 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Houk went 4-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Delano also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Columbia River got a massive performance out of Ava Pratoussy, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and seven RBI. Hailee Corona was another key player, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with six runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Mark Morris' victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Columbia River, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mark Morris hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .436. However, it's not like Columbia River struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mark Morris beat Columbia River 6-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will the Monarchs repeat their success, or do the Rapids have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
