Braxton County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Monday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the Gilmer County Titans, falling 11-0. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 7-0 to the Titans when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Gilmer County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games.
For Gilmer County's part, Jacob Stewart was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, Stewart posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Gilmer County let Tyler Ratliff and Seth Stewart run wild. Ratliff got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Stewart went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Ratliff a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kolten Holbert, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Braxton County will take on Ravenswood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gilmer County, they will challenge Greater Beckley Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
