The Falls Lake Firebirds will head out on the road to face off against the Raleigh Charter Phoenix at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Falls Lake is looking to tack on another W to their 22-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Falls Lake can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 59-34 margin over East Wake Academy. Falls Lake pushed the score to 51-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.
It was another big night for Emerson Thompson, who almost dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists. Thompson is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Oakley, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Raleigh Charter's game on Friday was all tied up 23-23 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Franklin Academy 39-37. The victory was just what Raleigh Charter needed coming off of a 59-23 defeat in their prior matchup.
Falls Lake's record is now 20-2. Raleigh Charter's record is now 5-7.
Falls Lake strolled past the Phoenix in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 58-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Falls Lake since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
