La Veta wouldn't let Antonito keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Tayten Medina was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in Antonito's side was Kyle Presely, who picked up a sack and made ten total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.
Despite the loss, Antonito saw an underclassman step up: Lucas Cordova picked up 139 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
La Veta's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Antonito, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.
La Veta will challenge Caliche at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Caliche will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something La Veta surely won't give up without a fight. As for Antonito, they will head out to face off against Primero at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Primero knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Antonito likes a good challenge.
