Minneola is 1-9 against Meade since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Minneola Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Meade Buffaloes at 7:30 p.m. Minneola will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Meade is ranked 54th).
Minneola pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Spearville. Minneola's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Minneola's defeat came about despite a quality game from Eli Lang, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten assists. Lang is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Smith, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Meade put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 62-33 win over Ashland on the road.
Minneola's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Meade, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Minneola was dealt a bruising 80-39 loss at the hands of Meade when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Minneola avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
