The Holmes County Blue Devils scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 79-67 victory over Walton. The win was familiar territory for Holmes County who now have three in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Holmes County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Whitaker, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 19 rebounds. Whitaker hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Karson McGowan was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Several Braves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kenzie Lassiter, who scored 19 points along with five assists and four steals. Lassiter is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for four games straight. Another player making a difference was Isabella Holden, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Holmes County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Walton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
Holmes County and the Wildcats will face off on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Altha is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses. As for Walton, they will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Malone is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
