Hillsboro has gone a perfect 5-0 against Shelbyville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Hillsboro will look to defend their home field against Shelbyville at 4:30 p.m. Hillsboro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.
Hillsboro made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Wesclin, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Hillsboro's pitcher stepped up to hand Wesclin a 13-0 shutout on Saturday.
Lainey Lessman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Lessman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Anika Camp was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Ella Greenwood was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Hillsboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Shelbyville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against Arcola by a score of 8-4 on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Jasmine Wildman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alex Jokisch, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Aylah Logan, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
The victory got Shelbyville back to even at 1-1. As for Hillsboro, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Everything went Hillsboro's way against Shelbyville in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Hillsboro made off with an 18-11 victory. Does Hillsboro have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shelbyville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
