The Marion Swamp Foxes entered their tilt with the Socastee Braves with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Marion came out on top in a nail-biter against Socastee on Friday and snuck past 66-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Marion had a senior duo take command as Gabriel Cusack scored 17 points along with seven assists and two steals and Jamarius Williams scored 18 points. Cusack is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tahj Lathon, who scored five points along with five rebounds.
Marion is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Socastee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-11.
Marion will be playing in front of their home fans against Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Marion is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in South Carolina (they are ranked 33rd, while Central is ranked 203rd). As for Socastee, they will head out on the road to challenge Wando at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Socastee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Wando likes a good challenge.
