Tavares is 2-8 against South Lake since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Tavares Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the South Lake Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Friday, Tavares was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 35-30 to Evans. Tavares has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, South Lake's 19-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were outmatched by Lake Minneola at home and fell 67-28. While losing is never fun, South Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Lake Minneola is ranked 81st).
The losing side was boosted by Kaylin Cockefair, who scored 6 points.
The losses dropped Tavares to 1-5 and Evans to 1-6.
Tavares took a serious blow against South Lake in their previous meeting back in January, falling 42-13. Can Tavares avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
