The Cleveland Heights Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Shaker Heights Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It was a proper cat-fight when Cleveland Heights challenged St. Martin de Porres on Thursday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 18-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Vivian Portner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Portner was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.
In other batting news, Ryan McMahon was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Nylah Starr, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.
Cleveland Heights always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .794. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .591 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Shaker Heights never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Harvey on Thursday. They blew past Harvey 13-2. The win was some much needed relief for Shaker Heights as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Scout Harvey made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last 11 contests. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Shaker Heights got a massive performance out of Molly Milligan, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Milligan a new career-high. Eleanor Miller also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Shaker Heights' victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Cleveland Heights, their record now sits at 3-4.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cleveland Heights has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .610. However, it's not like Shaker Heights struggles in that department as they've averaged .443. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cleveland Heights might still be hurting after the 20-5 loss they got from Shaker Heights in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
