Hillcrest and Arlington are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Lions at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Hillcrest lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Heritage, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Patriots on Thursday. With that win, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Ashley James looked comfortable as she tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits.

At the plate, Hillcrest got a massive performance out of Sierra Siracusa, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Those four RBI gave Siracusa a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Melody Acevedo, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Hillcrest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They are 7-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arlington). They never let Canyon Springs get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
The team relied heavily on Lorena Ricasa, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Ahdrie Martinez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Hillcrest's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Arlington, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Everything went Hillcrest's way against Arlington when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Hillcrest made off with a 16-8 victory. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
