Westview has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the West Noble Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Tuesday, Westview was beaten by Northridge 77-21. While losing is never fun, Westview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while Northridge is ranked fifth).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Bre Cory, who scored 7 points. She scored a full 33.3% of Westview's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hope Bortner, who scored 4 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to West Noble, who are still winless after their seventh game. They were the victim of a tough 54-32 loss at the hands of Wawasee on Tuesday. West Noble has not had much luck with Wawasee recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
West Noble's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Alexia Mast, who scored 21 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals, and Kayle Jordan who scored 5 points along with 8 rebounds. Mast is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last four games she's played.
Westview's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for West Noble, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
Westview came up short against West Noble in their previous meeting back in January, falling 40-29. Thankfully for Westview, Mackensy Mabie (who scored 19 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
