Baseball Recap: Zuni Gets the Win

Zuni took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Bosque, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Thunderbirds came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bobcats on Saturday, sneaking past 10-8. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Thunderbirds considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Jaiden Cheama was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyle Soseeah, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Zuni always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Zuni is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Bosque, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-18.

Zuni has already played their next match, an 11-10 loss against Navajo Prep on the 29th. As for Bosque, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-4 victory against Non Varsity Opponent on the 26th.
