The Mt. Carmel Golden Aces came tearing into Monday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Robinson by a score of 67-54. This was payback for Mt. Carmel, who suffered a 63-45 loss the last time these two teams met.
Mt. Carmel got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maycee Randall out in front who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Randall has scored at least 25% of Mt. Carmel's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Smith, who scored 13 points along with nine assists and six rebounds.
Robinson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marisa Zane, who scored 23 points. The contest was Zane's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Jones, who scored 14 points.
Mt. Carmel pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points per game. As for Robinson, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Carmel will be home for the holidays to greet Hamilton County at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Robinson won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Terre Haute South Vigo at 5:30 p.m. on December 12th. Terre Haute South Vigo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 347th in Indiana, while Robinson is ranked 89th in Illinois).
