Rich Township has been on the road for 12 straight, but on Sunday they'll finally head home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Marian Catholic Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on January 14th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Saturday, Rich Township didn't have too much trouble with Joliet West on the road as they won 70-53.
Rich Township relied on the efforts of Samar Bures, who scored 15 points along with three steals, and Jayden Williams, who scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Victor Brown, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Marian Catholic greeted the New Year with with a 73-59 victory over Joliet Catholic. Given Marian Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Joliet Catholic is ranked 344th), the result last Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rich Township is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Marian Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.
Things could have been worse for Rich Township, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-46 loss to Marian Catholic in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Rich Township, Quentin Jones (who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
