The Winside Wildcats were the 42-25 winner over the Osmond/Randolph Hawks when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Winside's tough 57-32 defeat to Osmond/Randolph on Friday might stick with them for a while. Winside has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Winside had strong showings from Gavin Schutt, who scored nine points, and Kaden Hunt, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hunt pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Osmond/Randolph was led to victory by Logan Lineman and Owen Severson. Lineman scored 12 points, while Severson scored ten points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Luke Harder, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Winside bumped their record down to 2-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Osmond/Randolph, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Winside is on the road again on Saturday and play against Niobrara/Verdigre at 1:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Niobrara/Verdigre comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Osmond/Randolph will finish 2023 at home by hosting Stuart at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Stuart focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
