Basketball Recap: Fort Bend Willowridge Takes a Loss

Fort Bend Willowridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Dekaney Wildcats 71-44. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1182nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 551st).

Fort Bend Willowridge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Thompson, who posted 12 points. Thompson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ernest Hampton, who put up 12 points.

Even though they lost, Fort Bend Willowridge was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive matches.

Fort Bend Willowridge's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Dekaney, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Emery/Weiner the next time they take the court. Fort Bend Willowridge will host Emery/Weiner at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Dekaney will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
