Upper Scioto Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Calvary Christian Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Upper Scioto Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
Upper Scioto Valley suffered their biggest loss since December 19, 2023 on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 72-49 walloping at the hands of Arlington. Upper Scioto Valley has not had much luck with Arlington recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Layla Hunsicker, who scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Lowery, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Calvary Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on January 6th. They breezed by East Dayton Christian on the road to the tune of 43-10. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Calvary Christian has managed all season.
Upper Scioto Valley has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Calvary Christian, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
