Even though the Lynden Lions scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, the Jackson Timberwolves still came out on top. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Jackson made off with a 60-59 win over Lynden. Given Jackson's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Lynden is ranked 86th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jackson had a senior duo take command as Trey Hawkins scored 18 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds and Ryan Mcferran dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mcferran has scored at least 25% of Jackson's points. Drew Pepin was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Jackson's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Lynden, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
Jackson has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Renton at 7:15 p.m. on December 12th. Renton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Jackson likes a good challenge. As for Lynden, they will head out on the road to face off against Squalicum at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
