Baseball Recap: Kenston Gets the Win

It was close, but on Thursday the Kenston Bombers sidestepped the Shaker Heights Red Raiders for a 6-4 victory.

Kenston's win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Kaltenbach, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Kaltenbach a new career-high. Graysen Bischof was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Kenston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Kenston's victory bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Shaker Heights, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kenston will face off against Beachwood at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Considering the Bombers have lost four straight at home and the Bison seven straight on the road, this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum. As for Shaker Heights, they will host Twinsburg at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Raiders are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
