The Oak Grove Grizzlies's four-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They walked away with a 57-46 win over Wheatmore. Given Oak Grove's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Wheatmore is ranked 577th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Loucas Shoaf, who scored 19 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. JB Shabazz was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Wheatmore lost, one person who can't be blamed is Parker Kines. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Weston Driggers, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Oak Grove's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Wheatmore, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.
Oak Grove will head out on the road to square off against Central Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Wheatmore, they will be playing at home against Southwestern Randolph at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southwestern Randolph has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
