The East Henderson Eagles will face off against the CHASE Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. East Henderson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
On Monday, East Henderson sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Enka. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Tristen Sumner was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask CHASE). They blew past West Caldwell 13-3 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.
Landon Millwood made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Millwood was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matthew Raborne, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Nathan Thomas, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two runs.
CHASE always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
CHASE's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for East Henderson, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. East Henderson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like CHASE struggles in that department as they've averaged .441. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
