The Montgomery Red Raiders will venture away from home to face off against the Williamson Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Williamson took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Montgomery, who comes in off a win.
While Montgomery's victory against Bucktail wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Red Raiders skirted past the Bucks 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Raiders have posted since March 26th.
Ava Hartman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Montgomery saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Delilah Preitz, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 19 runs the game before, Williamson was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Towanda by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered since April 14, 2024.
Williamson also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Kenna Thomas gave up four earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
Montgomery pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.9 runs. As for Williamson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Both Montgomery and Williamson just can't seem to miss. The Red Raiders have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Williamson struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Montgomery suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Williamson in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Red Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
