Sage Creek hasn't had much luck against La Costa Canyon recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bobcats will be playing at home against the Mavericks at 4:00 p.m. Sage Creek will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Sage Creek barely beat Mission Vista the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over Mission Vista on Tuesday. The Bobcats not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 20th (when they won 18-0).
The team relied heavily on Kaimana Coleman, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and six RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Makena Coleman was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sage Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for La Costa Canyon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They never let Carlsbad get on the board and left with a 5-0 win on Tuesday.
Addy Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Norah Coulsell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sienna Curry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
La Costa Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sage Creek, they now have a winning record of 9-8-1.
Sage Creek suffered a grim 19-4 defeat to La Costa Canyon when the teams last played back in May of 2018. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
