Baseball Recap: Medina Makes It Eight in a Row on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Medina). They blew past the Albion Purple Eagles 17-2 on Thursday. Considering the Mustangs have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Preston Woodworth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carter Woodworth was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aidan Papaj, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Medina always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Medina pushed their record up to 12-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Albion, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6.

Medina will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Purple Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
