Washington took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past Irvington 13-6. The win continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won seven in a row.
Olivia Machuca was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Machuca was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Newark Memorial's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Washington, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Washington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Newark Memorial struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
