The result came thanks to Nolan Peters's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jacob Carrasco was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Angelo Billiard also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Ephrata suffered their closest defeat since May 3, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Governor Mifflin by a score of 6-4.
Ty Custer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Prange, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Manheim Township has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Ephrata, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Ephrata's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Manheim Township hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .371. It's a different story for Ephrata, though, as they've only averaged .234. Will they be able to contain Manheim Township's hitters?
Manheim Township skirted past Ephrata 2-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Blue Streaks repeat their success, or do the Mountaineers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
