The David Anderson Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Southern Indians at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (David Anderson has six straight wins, Southern has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, David Anderson was fully in charge, breezing past Leetonia 72-37 at home. Given David Anderson's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Leetonia is ranked 714th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
David Anderson can attribute much of their success to Trevor Siefke, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Alex Schreffler, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Southern's 17-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 41-33 to United on Tuesday.
David Anderson pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Southern, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3.
David Anderson came up short against Southern in their previous meeting back in January, falling 61-56. Can David Anderson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
