It was a good run, but the Washington Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 62-53 to Sterling. If Washington hoped to take revenge for the 39-38 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
When it comes to explaining why Washington lost, one person who can't be blamed is Danaya Pope. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Cleare, who scored 13 points.
Leading Sterling to victory were Joemoriah Ben and Amanda Scott. Ben scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Scott scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Ben has scored at least a third of Sterling's points. Madison Morrow was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Sterling, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.
