The Wilkinson County Wildcats fell victim to the Amite County Trojans''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Trojans, falling 48-0. Wilkinson County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Amite County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2019.
Markell Smith looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 132 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 37 yards and a touchdown. Chris Tobias got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Wilkinson County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Amite County, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Wilkinson County will look to defend their home field on Friday against Bogue Chitto at 7:00 p.m. As for Amite County, they will head out on the road to face off against West Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Lincoln is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
