Baseball Game Preview: Centennial Coyotes vs. Ironwood Eagles

For the second straight game, Centennial will face off against Ironwood. The Coyotes will head out to face off against the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Centennial has seven straight victories, Ironwood has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Centennial's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Ironwood. The result was nothing new for the Coyotes, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cohen Baack made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Baack was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Liu Rodriguez Jr was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was JT Price, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ironwood only posted an OBP of .308.

Centennial's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Ironwood, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Ironwood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Centennial hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333.
