Mason Classical Academy hasn't had much luck against Donahue Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Paladins will be playing at home against the Shamrocks at 3:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Monday, Mason Classical Academy made easy work of Everglades City and carried off an 18-3 win. The Paladins haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Hudson Weniger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs but no hits. He is becoming a predictor of Mason Classical Academy's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Weniger was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Mason Classical Academy got a massive performance out of Alastair Rockley, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The Paladins are undefeated when Rockley posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-5 otherwise. Mason Lichter was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Mason Classical Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Everglades City only posted an OBP of .429.
Meanwhile, Donahue Catholic got the win against Everglades City on Wednesday by a conclusive 22-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Shamrocks.
The team relied heavily on Jack Kadlec, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Thomas Green, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3.
Mason Classical Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Donahue Catholic, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Mason Classical Academy might still be hurting after the 16-7 loss they got from Donahue Catholic when the teams last played back in February. Can the Paladins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
