Baseball Recap: Spaulding Takes a Loss

Spaulding extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 5-9-1 in the process. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Alvirne Broncos. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Spaulding saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Spencer, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Spencer also scored a run, marking his first of the season. Brandon Scamman was another, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Alvirne, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Alvirne's side, Jaxson Polleck and Mikey Bebris did most of the damage at the plate: Polleck went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run, while Bebris went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two hits gave Polleck a new career-high.
