The Raines Vikings waltzed into Friday's matchup with six straight wins but they left with seven. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Westside 53-0 at home. Raines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three games by 29 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Raines to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ty'ren Randolph, who rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, and also threw for 34 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Mark Miller, who rushed for 49 yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Westside to a paltry 127 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Raines' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out seven times before it was all said and done. Westside's QB won't forget Jaylen Clark anytime soon given Clark sacked him twice.
Raines pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Westside and 0-10 Sandalwood (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 29.5% over those games). As for Westside, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Raines will be playing at home against Andrew Jackson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Andrew Jackson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 256th, while Raines is ranked 70th). Westside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
