Redwood has gone a perfect 10-0 against Novato recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Giants will welcome the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. Redwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Redwood took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against San Marin, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Giants came out on top against the Mustangs on Monday by a score of 1-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Giants have posted since March 24th.
San Marin's batters probably weren't too happy with Stella Belluomini, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Belluomini has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Redwood saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gia Meyers, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.
Meanwhile, Novato came up short against Marin Catholic on Monday and fell 10-5.
Georgiana Castro made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Redwood has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Novato, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
Novato's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Redwood has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Novato, though, as they've been averaging 9.9 hits. Given Redwood's sizable advantage in that area, the Hornets will need to find a way to close that gap.
Redwood took their win against Novato in their previous meeting on April 1st by a conclusive 12-5 score. Will the Giants repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
