Unity Christian and Oakwood Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Unity Christian Lions will head out on the road to take on the Oakwood Christian Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Unity Christian will be strutting in after a victory while Oakwood Christian will be coming in after a loss.
Unity Christian put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Monday. They really took it to Excel Christian Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-17 victory on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Unity Christian has posted since December 7, 2023.
Unity Christian found their leader in underclassman Anna Grace Wells, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn King, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Oakwood Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were dealt a 62-24 defeat at the hands of Ringgold. While losing is never fun, Oakwood Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 387th, while Ringgold is ranked 191st).
Unity Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Oakwood Christian, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6.
Unity Christian took their win against Oakwood Christian in their previous matchup on January 5th by a conclusive 56-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Unity Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
