The South Holt Knights and the Worth County/Northeast Nodaway Tigers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the South Holt Knights had to settle for second. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 40-14 walloping at the hands of the Tigers. South Holt's loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.
Cole Medsker threw for 113 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 113 yards and a touchdown. Kendall Noland was his top target, picking up 50 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Tyler New was his usual excellent self, rushing for 186 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry, and also throwing for 121 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes for Worth County/Northeast Nodaway. Another player making a difference was Grant McIntyre, who picked up 121 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Worth County/Northeast Nodaway's defense and their 5.5 sacks. In that department, Bo Collins was the leader with two sacks.
South Holt's loss dropped their record down to 12-1. As for Worth County/Northeast Nodaway, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
South Holt does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Worth County/Northeast Nodaway will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Archie. Archie is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
