Nick Kee made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Kee was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Carteret's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-6 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drexler Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Eric Thompson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Carteret kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Kennedy Memorial fell victim to North Plainfield and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Canucks by a score of 1-0. The match marked the first time this season in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.
Kennedy Memorial moved to 8-5 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Carteret, their record now sits at 5-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Carteret has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kennedy Memorial struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Carteret suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Kennedy Memorial when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can the Ramblers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
